Update 7th May: The transfer to WDM22 window is now open for ticket holders who cannot attend WDM21 and is open until 30th May. Please see here.

In light of recent announcements by the UK government on the roadmap for lifting restrictions in the UK, we wanted to provide an update of where we are in our thinking about World Dance Masters 2021, due to be held in Blackpool from Friday 30 July to Sunday 1 August.

We continue to be hopeful that we will be able to hold World Dance Masters 2021 as planned. This will be our first in-person event in almost 18 months and we are cautiously optimistic about the prospect. With the current UK roadmap earmarking a relaxation in event restrictions no earlier than 21 June and a review of restriction and progress every five weeks moving forward, it makes sense for us to continue to watch the situation closely and continue as planned.

One thing we will continue to do is plan towards putting on the safest possible event. Dancers, spectators, and our staff’s health will always come first and we will be working with the venue to ensure the best environment possible.

We appreciate that many countries are in different places with their vaccine rollout and there are still many questions to be answered on where international travel will be in the summer. We know some people will have concerns for health reasons or otherwise. We also know competitors will be concerned with how they will qualify for Worlds.

We are therefore announcing a couple of different options to help you make your decision on World Dance Masters 2021.

Open qualification

You will no longer need to qualify compete at World Dance Masters 2021. All other rules will still apply. If a qualification event will still be taking place in your country, please do continue to support the event and the event director during this time. I’m sure you can’t wait to get back onto the floor irrespective! At present we plan to offer all competitive divisions, though this is dependent on public health guidance that will be in place at the event.

Transfer and refund policy adjustment

We understand some guests may already know they can’t attend this year’s event, whether for travel, health, or other COVID-related concerns. We will therefore be enhancing our transfer and refund policy in May to allow for the transfer for any Worlds 2021 ticket to Worlds 2022 or for a refund to be processed (subject to the small ticketing admin fee). There will be a specific window of opportunity for this process so that we can get a full understanding of our numbers for this year’s event. We’ll announce more on our Facebook Page, via email, and on wdm.dance in the coming weeks.

Changing name on existing Worlds tickets

If you’d like to resell or pass your ticket onto someone else, you can do this manually yourself without asking World Dance Masters. You can do this directly in TicketLeap. The instructions on how to do this are available here. Please note World Dance Masters cannot change the name on tickets on your behalf.

Please know that if for any reason this year’s event has to be cancelled, everyone will be entitled to transfer or get a refund for their ticket and any registration fees.

Keep an eye on the Facebook Page and our website over the coming weeks for further updates on Worlds 2021! If you haven’t got your ticket yet, you can purchase from below or by visiting www.worlddancemasters.com/worlds. Please note, social dancer tickets are subject to availability!

As always, thank you for your support.

Sam, Nicola, and everyone at World Dance Masters
