We hope you are all keeping well and safe. We wanted to take a moment to give you an update on all the planning for World Dance Masters 2021.
The first thing to state categorically is that WDM21 is going ahead unless current restrictions change (and the government stops events taking place).
England is currently in Step 3 of four ‘steps’ out of coronavirus restrictions – the final step being full lifting of all legal limits on social contact which will happen no earlier than 21 June. While we’d love to be at ‘Step 4’ prior to Worlds, we can manage the event perfectly even if we stay in Step 3.
Step 3 rules allow for events to be run with a capacity of a maximum of 1,000 people or 50% of the venue’s capacity, whichever is the lowest. The Winter Gardens is an extremely large venue with many rooms and we will be well under the capacity. As dancers are spread over three large ballrooms (Empress Ballroom, Spanish Hall, and The Arena), we are confident we can run a safe, effective, and enjoyable event for all dancers. It will be different – but that won’t stop it from being well-needed fun to make up for all those events we’ve missed over the last 18 months!
We are in the midst of a deep planning cycle for WDM21. We are currently conducting risk assessments for all eventualities, including how we will manage competition, where and how workshops will take place, how entry and exit will be managed from ballrooms and the venue, what seating requirements we need to have (including how we’ll manage household and ‘rule of 6’ arrangements), testing expectations of staff and Pros, and much more. It is still too early to know exactly which process we’ll have in place during the event itself, but we are planning for every situation.
Did you know The Winter Gardens is a Blackpool Council-owned property? As a government building, it has some of the best safety measures currently in place and will continue to do so for our event (including but not limited to enhanced cleaning procedures).
Our Worlds COVID page is kept up to date with the latest information on government restrictions and event safety procedures. We plan to update this page with a detailed breakdown of our safety protocols and expectations by mid-June. This won’t be the final list, but will give you a deeper indication of what to expect and how we will be working hard to ensure you feel safe and comfortable during the event. We expect to publish a final list of all safety measures 2 weeks prior to the event.
Transfer option is now closed unless COVID prevents you from attending
Thank you to those of you who used the refund/transfer window. We were far more efficient than we expected and almost all tickets have been processed. If you opted to transfer your tickets, your new ticket would have been issued by Ticket Tailor. Please check your email and reach out to us if you can’t locate it.
If you still have your ticket for Worlds but your circumstances change between now and the event, we’ve still got you covered! Should government restrictions change and you can no longer fly into the UK or you have a COVID-related illness that prevents you from travelling, we will transfer your ticket to Worlds 2022.
In order to use this option, please fill out the form below. Please note this option is only available if you can no longer travel due COVID restrictions or you have a COVID-related illness. We can no longer accept requests for transfers if you decided you no longer want to attend for any other reason.
Thank you for your continued support of World Dance Masters during this challenging time. We are looking forward to Worlds 2021 and can’t wait to welcome so many more of you back to one of our events in the near future.
The window to request a transfer or refund is now closed.
